Man Remanded to Mile II Prison for Operating Unauthorised Drug Premise

Mr. Alagie Jabbie has been remanded to Mile II Central Prison after appearing before Magistrate I. Dibba of the Bundung Magistrates Court on 01 September 2025.

He was charged under Section 59(1)(e) of the Medicines and Related Products Act, 2014, for operating an unauthorised medicines premise in Sanchaba.

Mr. Jabbie pleaded guilty to the charge as narrated by the prosecution officer, Mr. B. Jarju. In his plea for mitigation, he urged the Court to consider his responsibilities as a family man when tempering justice.

When asked by Magistrate Dibba why he chose to operate an illegal premise despite knowing it was a criminal offence, Mr. Jabbie failed to provide a response.

Magistrate Dibba stressed that cases involving unauthorised premise would no longer be taken lightly, commending the Medicines Control Agency (MCA) for diligently enforcing its mandate.

Mr. Jabbie was subsequently convicted and remanded to Mile II Central Prison pending sentencing, which is scheduled for 11 September 2025.
